The library will be closed beginning March 19, through April 30, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Please see the more detailed information below.
*Library Closure Due to Covid-19 Pandemic*
The health and safety of our patrons and employees is a priority to the Plum Lake Public Library. We are working to stay on top of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to follow the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control, WI Department of Health Services and the Vilas County Health Department.
Our current plan is to:
1) Prioritize the safety and health of our staff and patrons.
2) Plan ahead for changing circumstances.
At this time, the library will be open until the end of the day on Wednesday, March 18, 2020. The library will be closed from March 19th through April 30th. During the closure, the library’s book drop will also be closed. There is an extended checkout time to April 11th with no fines during the closure. Please hold onto your materials. All due dates have been extended until May 4, 2020.
All programs, outreach and activities are suspended until further notice. Patrons can find links on this page for checking out e-books and audiobooks, as well as a link to free Gale online courses.
Library Cleaning: Our staff is increasing their focus on disinfecting high-touch areas such as counters, tabletops, doorknobs, elevator buttons, computer keyboards and computer mice.
Library Materials Cleaning: Our materials (books, movies, CDs, etc.) are not disinfected when they are checked-in or as they are browsed or used in-house due to limited resources and supplies.
Staff and Patron Hygiene: Hand sanitizer and wipes are available while supplies last, and we are encouraging frequent handwashing.
Next Steps: We are monitoring this developing situation closely, staying up to date on information from federal, state and local agencies, health organizations and other experts.
We will continue to communicate any further impacts to Plum Lake Public Library on this website and the library’s Facebook page.
